Founded in 1867, the Beethoven Männerchor has been a leader in San Antonio’s German community. Its purpose is to preserve German song, music and language. It is one of the oldest German singing societies in Texas.
We rehearse every Tuesday night at 8:00 PM and every member is welcome to join us! The Männerchor participate in regional, state and national Saengerfests with other clubs. The Männerchor also perform regularly at our Oktoberfest, Gartenfest and other events at our Halle und Garten.
Beethoven Damenchor was founded on March 22, 1932 as an outgrowth of the activities of San Antonio’s venerable pioneer male choir, Beethoven Männerchor, founded in 1867.
The Beethoven Bands are comprised of more than 70 musicians who fill the biergarten with a spirited and diverse selection of music! The band meets every Wednesday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Beethoven Männerchor, 422 Pereida St. in the Historic King William District. If you are interested in joining, contact Al Tapia, Director, at 210-545-5654.
German Classes are offered at Beethoven as part of a cultural awareness and mission of preservation. Classes are held next door to Beethoven at the German American Cultural Center, 412 Pereida St. 12 week classes cost $85 per student, which includes the text book. *We will update as soon as new classes are in session.*
Come grab a drink and some food at the oldest German community in San Antonio.
